I started Pink Floyd in mid 2019, which was before I adopted the grading system. Therefore, all the albums have asterisks (read more on this on the page Grades). If you want to listen to Pink Floyd, listen to everything in between Meddle and The Wall (I guess you kinda have to check out The Wall right?). If you want to check out some more of their stuff after that, start with The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and proceed to all other albums with caution.

Ummagumma (1969):
Someone once defended this album by basically saying "a lot of people forget there's also a live album on Ummagumma." Which is true; what they also forget is that the live album is crap too. And more importantly, it's crap building up to an even bigger pile of crap, which is the studio album. I can admire most experimental music from a distance, but not this. D+*
Animals (1977):
As far as Waters getting at something really interesting and thought provoking lyrically, this was it. Maybe the execution of the lyrics isn’t as great as I’d like it to be, but I still greatly admire it. Animals isn't as musically enjoyable as their two previous works, but its unapologetic griminess is what makes this more fun and compelling than Dark Side. "Dogs," "Pigs," and "Sheep" are all a little too dragged-out but there are worthwhile moments on each anyway. B+*
