2022: My Top Albums of the Year

This page contains my lists and statistics for 2022. I officially retired the top artist list but who knows, maybe it will come back next year.

The 30 Best Studio/Live Albums I Listened to this Year:

I divided 100 points amongst my top ten. As with last year, this reveals a runaway winner for the year and though The Gilded Palace of Sin beats London Calling in a head-to-head, this year runs deeper than last year. Nevertheless, punk rock, new wave, and post-punk dominate the list. Only three albums from the top ten didn't come from the punk era.

Honorable Mentions:

I know 30 studio album recommendations is already pushing it but keep humoring me. Because I didn't get as much re-listening time at the end of the year as usual, some of these may have made the list if I simply had time to check them out. Some of them are extra albums from artists who already appeared three times on the album list.

Ramones's Rocket to Russia, Road to Ruin
John Mellencamp's Uh-Huh!, Rough Harvest, Human WheelsSimply a One-Eyed Jack
Dusty Springfield's Stay Awhile/I Only Wanna Be with You
The Animals's The Animals
The Mama and the Papa's If You Can Believe Your Eyes

Lou Reed's Coney Island Baby
